Hi Readers!
I know, I know...no pictures. But we're going on vacation next week and plan to have the camera out at all times, so expect an onslaught then! :-)
I just wanted to give a quick update about Arden's ears. We had the appointment with the pediatric otolaryngologist yesterday. She will be getting ear tubes in two weeks. He was ready to do the surgery next week, but we'll be away.
The bottom line is, she constantly has fluid in her ears. The low dose antibiotics is working well enough to keep the fluid from not becoming infected, but she still deals with the fluid in her ears day in and day out. Not comfortable.
The great news is that her hearing is wonderful still. She's so verbal, we weren't overly worried, but we were thrilled when she did so well during her hearing test. She did present quite a challenge to the audiologists though. After the first few times she heard the sounds from the sides of the room, she would anticipate it coming and just watch and weight for her little bear friend to light up. They ended up switching to give Arden a new face to look at, and the second audiologist was much more adept at getting her attention. She had them pulling out all the tricks. What can we say, our child is a genius!
The procedure will be quick, and while we know it is a common surgery, it is still scary for us to have her under anesthesia. She couldn't be in better hands, with the doctors at Children's Hospital, so we take solace in the fact that we are near such a great institution who specializes in kids, not grownups!
Please keep Arden in your thoughts on August 7th. We know that the tubes will provide her with relief, and that she will feel better, so this is entirely, 100% worth it.

Good Afternoon,
I've come with a much belated update! Of course, the update is currently not accompanied by new pictures, but as I've said before, I'm banned from the photo page as I will (apparently) screw it up. ;-)
Arden is almost 11 months old and is growing like a weed. She has mastered the crawl and is extraodinarily quick, especially when she's on her way somewhere she's not supposed to be. Like when the dog opens the kitchen door and slithers through, Arden, with a glint in her eye, charges for the opening.
She's not content to cuddle these days, it's all about being idependent. Most days she'd rather feed herself than be fed, which Lucy the pooch is LOVING, as she knows this leads to leftovers. She has learned the click of the highchair tray and dashes downstairs to sit patiently at A's feet, waiting for the heavens to open and release the food.
She pulls up on everything in sight, resulting in 2 incident reports last week because she kept falling. See, she thinks she can stand on her own, and while she can for a second or two, she's not at all stable. Hence many, many tumbles.
Last night she invented a new game, called put the flip flop on mommy's foot. She found my flip flop and brought it to me, and set it on my leg. I showed her where to put it. Over and over we did it, she'd take it off, and put it back on, we'd cheer and she would bubble over with joy at her accomplishment. It was one of the sweetest moments we've had thus far. After she tired of the game, she crawled over, pulled herself up on me and hugged me. She's so neat.

Today is Grandma Mary's Birthday! Happy Birthday!
As a good daughter I won't announce to the internet your real age... see the love?
Now onto the Buggy.
Arden has decided that her moms need to stay by her side at all times. This makes Erin's drop-off experience at daycare hellish.
Today she had to literally run out the door while Arden tried crawling speed deamon style to follow her while wailing her agony and abandonment for the WHOLE building to hear.
In other news her ears, while still having fluid, are not infected!!!
