35 Weeks 4 days
Hi All --
We have had a rough couple of days. We had to put our beloved german shepherd down yesterday. He bit Dora again -- it's the third time, completely unexpected and shocking really. We are utterly 100% devastated, but we had no choice. For the safety of those that come into our home -- we had no choice. Dora put it so well -- we finally freed him from his memories of his abusive past. In the two years we had him he finally learned to feel love.
He was such a wonderful dog in nearly every other way. He provided such wonderful companionship to us both -- he always made me feel safe when D was traveling. I always knew he'd protect me. We miss him desperately, and we were both with him as he left this earth. He will be missed forever.

34 weeks 5 days
D is traveling on business. Fingers crossed it's her last trip before the baby. Twas just a last minute overnight trip to Chicago, but still...
Our nursery furniture is being delivered a week from today, very happy about that. I can't wait to see what the set looks like in cherry. I'm sure it's gorgeous.
My parents are coming to town next week for our shower -- which is the 31st. I'm so excited that they'll be here, so excited. Wish they didn't live so far away!! Almost 3000 miles is too far.
A zillion things to do this weekend -- nesting is in FULL force for both of us. I've been a cleaning madwoman this week. Our new tv room furniture came. It's gorgeous and perfect. We made the right choice.
Hope everyone is well! Thanks for reading.

Our child is GORGEOUS. That's what D left out. She's so friggin cute with those chubby little cheeks.
You'll see that belly pics are posted, so there ya have it.
AND ....our furniture came in!!! We got the message last night. Didn't take the full 10 weeks, yippee! I think we're going to go on Sunday to pay it off and schedule delivery. Would like to have it delivered ASAP, but I don't know what types of time windows they want. We'll be doing stuff around the house for most of next weekend, maybe we can schedule it for then.
Things are coming together, so exciting.
Happy Weekend All...

CHUNKY MONKEY.
That is what Erin has dubbed our Doodlebug.
Yesterday was a long day of appointments, starting with an ultrasound to check her size...now what totally sucked for me was I didn't get to see her on screen at all! I did get to see a few pictures, which we have to scan in....summation of the pictures... FAT CHEEKS. Holy heck.
Anyhow she measures 5 pounds and is still in the 60% percentile for size, still is head down and everyone seemed happy about it all.
I'm sure Erin will update with stuff I'm forgetting :-)
Dora
PS... for all you belly shot lovers, she made me take one...can't see much yet....Comments:Add a comment:

Ok so I know I owe belly pics-- and I had D wear the same top in the first ones the other day---- and then forgot to take pics. Ugh. This week. Promise!! :-)
We're now at 33 weeks 2 days. Can't believe it. Tomorrow will be a funfilled day spent with a myriad of docs. Ultrasound first, though, so that's fun! Then a regular OB appt and then a consult with the anesthesiologist. We're both taking a full day off though, so that'll be a nice treat mid-week. Just figured if any of the appts run late, we won't be at work for longer that a couple hours anyway.
We've got curtain rods for the nursery now, so it's just a matter of the room darkening shades and getting everything else hung up. And of course, waiting for the furniture.
Really can't believe how close we are now!!!
Pics soon, I swear!

So it came to my attention earlier this week that I apparently can't understand physics.
Back-track for a second.... okay those of you who know me well are already privy to the fact that I specialized in reproduction in my undergrad. I suppose I should note it was animal reproduction. Made for some interesting classes and that is all I'll say on the WWW about that :)
Such course work made for many a long sleep-over in some barn, staring at some overly pregnant creature waiting for labor. Birth was always so amazing to me. Beautiful even. I mean what day wasn't a perfect day when all of a sudden there was another horse in it?!
Getting me pregnant was just another homework assignment. The ultrasound tech was probably relieved she didn't have to point out follicle, ovary, uterus, cyst to me...good to know the education came in handy for something right? I mean I knew how to keep sperm from cold shock, how to prepare all of our insem stuff etc etc.
Now pregnant we've just been riding out the waves of hormonal fun. (I'll never blame a cranky broodmare again when she feels like pinning her ears and taking a chunk out of my shoulder when I ask her to move, sistah, I feel you now)
Okay so back to Tuesday. I was reading my weekly update of "this is what your baby looks like, is growing, is doing, yadda yadda yadda, OH and buy XYZ product". Along with the narrative comes a cute drawing of a baby in utero and the way s/he fits inside mom.
I'm enjoying looking at the picture when it suddenly hits me that the very large baby in the picture needs to come out the itty bitty, TINY, vaginal canal directly under its' precious ENORMOUS head.
Call it my moment of clarity.
But really.
I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH 'STRECHING' IS GOING TO HAPPEN, THE PHYSICS OF IT JUST DON'T WORK.
sigh.
At least I'm only having one, she isn't being born with claws, hooves, four legs or horns.
We think ;-)

31 weeks 5 days!!!
We had an OB appt. yesterday and everything is just fine. We go back in 2 weeks and at that time we'll have another u/s to measure her. I'm also scheduling an appt. with the anesthesiology folks to talk about pain options. Pain RELIEF options, rather.
Today I made an appt. with the pediatric group we want to use, we'll go talk with them toward the end of July. Also been going back and forth with the daycare group (or early childhood center, as they like to be called) to figure out when to go in and get Arden signed up. We're waiting until the center opens, it's a brand new location. I want to see them in action before passing along money. So that'll all come to fruition toward the end of July also. It's incredible to me that we're doing this and she's not even here yet.
This weekend we have three different parties to attend. Hopefully in between the parties we'll get stuff done around the house. We need to get curtain rods for the curtains we got for her bedroom. We also need to take a trip to Home Depot to look at room darkening shades. Time to get organized!!!
Hope everyone is doing well.
