The Doodlebug Chronicles

June 2005

    Dear Arden,

Please get off mama's bladder. I know you don't have a lot of room to move these days, but she cannot sleep through the night thanks to your dancing all over it and well, we need all the rest we can get before you grace us with your gorgeous presence.

Most importantly, of course, it will make mommy's life much easier if you'll move -- because then mama will sleep and maybe then she'll be a bit happier and a little less cranky.

    Love,
    mommy

    Okay people....

You know when the July due date boards on FF are starting to announce births that there is no getting around the fact that the watermelon in my stomach is somehow going to make her way out.

The specifics of this process, while enjoyable in dogs and horses, seems a tad barbaric at the moment.

It would also seem that there are things I should be doing to get ready for her. I think Erin is going to kill me since I've decided the world needs to be reorganized before Doodlebug can come. So y'all might be coming to a funeral/baby shower :-)

In other news, we're almost done working with the insurance company regarding our bathroom shower and I may have found a gardener!

Only have a moment because my head is spinning with work stuff, but Doodle appears to still be a girl! Yippee!! We don't have to return the 6 million pink outfits ;-).

She was still a little shy initially, but we saw the three lines that they look for in a girl, and the doctor came in after the tech and got an even better shot.

She's perfect, measuring on the bigger side, currently 3.5lbs at 29 (almost 30) weeks. Measuring about 2 weeks ahead is what they said, on her way to being 8-9lbs.

She hated the non stress test because the heartrate monitor was strapped onto D's belly for almost an hour. Huge invasion of the doodlebug's meditative state. But she did just fine after I had a conversation with her.

She was opening her mouth, sucking her thumb, she's a darn cute little thing. We'll do another one of these in a month, meantime Dora is trying to convince me to do the 4D ultrasound. Not sure how I feel about this!

    Alright back to work!

    Erin

    29 weeks 2 days. Heh.

D's got the doodle in Houston today. The two of them are just traveling maniacs right now.

Back tomorrow from Houston, then to North Carolina on Sunday for a few days. Such a busy career lady that Mama is.

Gleefully, D will be back in time for our appt and u/s on Thursday. I definitely didn't want to move it, I can't wait to see the baby again.

She's so easy to feel from the outside now. Her kicks are getting stronger and stronger. Hope they did well on the plane ride today.

I think we've made it a whole week with no new clothes from grandma. Auntie Nette said that grandma wanted to buy sleepers for the baby this weekend, but she steered her away. Auntie Nette DID however buy baby her first pacifier...a Red Sox pacifier nonetheless.

Not much other news from here. Still waiting to hear on the crib's arrival. Should be within a month hopefully. SO far we just have the clothes and her drapes!

    All in good time...

    Erin

    28 weeks 3 days.

THIRD TRIMESTER. In December this seemed so far away. How time flies.

Well D made it safely to GA for her business trip. Got to fly first class and apparently the baby quite enjoyed that. Don't think D minded it either ;-).

We have another u/s scheduled for next week. So excited about that. Hope we get a girl confirmation because otherwise our boy will be pretty in pink! Grandma doesn't keep the receipts...sigh! Hello ebay! :-)

D is very nesty these days. Very, very nesty. I'm in the process of cleaning and organizing, there's so much crap that we've held onto and need to just let it go. That way we'll have places to put some of this paraphenalia that comes along with a kid!

We've got pics of her coming home outfit -- D will post them when she gets back. MIL and her best friend got it -- initially we'd had something else in mind, but this is really just lovely, so our original dress will be used for pics it appears.

Can't believe we are nearing 30 weeks. That is just so scary and exciting!!

Shouldn't be too much longer before the crib comes in. I can't wait for that.

    Ciao Folks!
    Erin

Well today someone at work sent me a funny collection of first time parents bloopers... you know the kind I'm talking about.... leaving the baby in the house but remember a trunkload of stuff, thinking Junior is dying because of projectile vomiting (though I don't think I'd call my priest for an exorcism)...yadda yadda yadda...

Which got me to thinking.... wonder what I'll do to poor Doodlebug? I'm sure if our conception story is anything to go by, it'll be one heck of a doozy.

Onto some fun stuff... Doodlebug can officially make my stomach rock and roll. I feel like I'm in an episode of the X-Files the way my lower half moves on its own....funky sh*t I tell ya.

In other news... BOTH mommies in this family have lost it to pending baby moodiness... we were such a fun bunch this weekend....though I think my nesting is going to kill Erin since she was just weepy realizing Doodle is coming soon. I have a feeling I rivaled the crib scenario on Sunday.

Suffice it to say I got left home even though I iorned a shirt to go shopping. Apparently I needed to sleep. Someday I might even admit she was right.

    :-) Dora
