Hi All --
Long time no update! Just a really quick update to say that Arden is wonderful, even if she didn't sleep last night. Such a rough night in terms of sleeplessness, but it's the first bad night we've had and at 8 weeks, I'd say that's pretty good.
We're still not sure what happened, and D's dealing with quite a crankpot today, hopefully she'll be happy when I get home.
I can't believe she's 8 weeks old. I can't figure out where the time has gone. It's all passing too quickly.
She's an incredibly good baby -- we've noticed she's quite serious in different situations. She considers everything before deciding to show her happy side. Sounds like me actually.
Thanks for keeping up with us.

Well guess who has decided that she can't go to sleep unless on a mommy?
I had trouble with this eariler this week and nipped it in the bud.... then we had an unexpected day at the chocolate factory and because we didn't have a bassinet or stroller with us, she had to nap and she had to nap on a human matress...(we didn't even have a thick blanket with us, just a changing pad and a receiving blanket)
Today has been a long day of put in bassinet and then have her wail after a half hour of sleep....soothe her a bit, put her back down...etc etc.
Anyhow....poor baby with black circles under her eyes. Erin is up in our room right now settling her for the second time tonight, time for bed, she just really needs it.
In other news...the garage roof is really really leaking. I think we're going to have to face the fact that it needs to be replaced...it will have to wait until this spring....but DAMN, I'm done with house repairs! Just please fate, give us a BREAK!
Oh...and Erin bought a stroller...Venizia (sp?) by Peg Preggo. She took Arden out for a test run and it seemed to go over well.

Yawn.... almost midnight.
But I wanted to take a second before I hooked myself up like a milk cow to update the site.
Last night we took Arden to Topsfield Fair! Only for a couple of hours but we were so afraid that with the horrid pouring rain expected all weekend that I might actually miss the fair this year. Now most of you know that I DO NOT miss the fair if it can be avoided....
Now how many lesbians does it take to get one baby out the door to the fair???
Technically two...BUT only if they can be 10 people at once.
Getting out went like this....
Nurse baby...grandparents drop in, play with baby who should be nursing other side....go arrange clothes for baby....other mother comes home from work....everyone is chatting....other mother changes from work clothes...everyone is chatting....mother with milk pumps in bathroom with handpump because other breast starts leaking....Nonno puts on the baseball game and educates baby about Red Sox.....freshly milked mother freezes new milk, thaws bag of old milk makes a bottle....Grandma and Mother fresh from work dress baby....Grandma and Nonno leave.....baby has melt down and nurses to calm down....Mother without milk gathers extra outfit, replenishes diapers in bag and gets both mothers outerwear....baby finishes nursing...smiles...lots of smiles...neither parent notices this is way to much smiling....gather up dog, all travel items and Mother without milk gathers up child...almost out the door when Mother with baby sniffs loudly..."Do you smell that".... Smell what?...baby booty shoved in face...."OH THAT"....all back into the livingroom...change diaper....look at the clock...only 2 hours since the start of trying to walk out the door....out we go....
Feel proud that we shaved a half hour off leave time :D

So Arden's Mommy started a new job today. This means that Mama is at home trying to figure out how to be a good house wife. I think I suck at it. But that is niether here nor there.
We survived our first cross country trip with Ms. Arden Grace or as her NV grandfather likes to call her "The Agster". We have a few super sweet shots of Erin's dad holding her, I'll have to download and post. In fact I really should update the site just a tiny bit....sorry :-(
I think I should take a second to point out that I survived meeting Erin's extended family. I've decided that I adore her Mississippi branch. They were super sweet and adored the baby.
Now I need to put in a plug for Jet Blue when travelling with an infant. They just about rocked my little world. They were helpful and kind and went out of their way to make sure that 5+ hour flight that we were locked in with Arden was as comfortable as possible.
Arden was an angel both ways. Thank you fate.
Hotel living with Arden went well...once we left the horrid Red Lion in Modesto and reparked ourselves at the DoubleTree. For the most part we co-slept with her and you know what? I actually missed it a little once we returned home. I know this will be easier in the long run but there was something special about waking up to her little face at eye level.
Unfortunately my parents refuse to watch my dog from now on. Sort of ironic in a sense because she is the best behaved, extremely well trained dog at home...once she is in their clutches she turns into a misbeahaving terror.
Makes you wonder what Arden will act like later in life....though somehow I bet they'll still watch the grandkid!
